PSSF Joins Global Social Security Group ISSA in Push for Global Standards

The Public Service Superannuation Fund (PSSF) has officially joined the International Social Security Association (ISSA), becoming part of a global network of over 320 institutions across 160 countries dedicated to advancing social protection.

The milestone was marked by a visit from ISSA Secretary-General Marcelo Abi-Ramia Caetano, who met with PSSF management in recognition of the Fund’s new membership.

Founded in 1927 and headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, ISSA brings together more than 320 member institutions from over 160 countries. The association works under the International Labour Organization (ILO) to promote international standards, knowledge sharing, and innovation in social security.

ISSA Secretary-General Marcelo Caetano welcomed PSSF into the global network, noting Kenya’s growing role in shaping the future of social protection in Africa.

“Kenya’s PSSF is a forward-looking institution, and we are pleased to welcome it to ISSA,” he said. “We look forward to supporting its continued growth and innovation.”

Speaking during the event, PSSF CEO Dr. Jonah Aiyabei said the membership would support the Fund’s mission to uphold global best practices in managing retirement savings for public servants.

“Joining ISSA is a major step in strengthening our governance, benchmarking performance, and ensuring we deliver world-class services to our members,” said Dr. Aiyabei.

As a member of ISSA, PSSF will now access a wide range of resources including international technical guidelines, capacity-building opportunities, and peer learning with leading pension and social security institutions worldwide.
